Fossils are the residual mold of prehistoric Pokémon which can be reanimated into a live version of the Pokémon, by turning them into the experimental laboratory on Cinnabar Island.
Since fossilized Pokémon can only be acquired by obtaining a fossil and turning it to scientists that may recreate it, they are considered more rare among all Pokémon that are obtainable in-game.
Obtaining Fossils
The Helix Fossil,Dome Fossil,Claw Fossil,Root Fossil and Old Amber were initially rewarded in a test-run event, which was live from March 8th-10th, 2013.The Skull Fossil and Armor Fossil were event rewards of the Fossilween Event. These batches of fossils could be turned into the research laboratory on Cinnabar Island, in order to claim a living version of the fossils.
Currently, they can be redeemed from vouchers, rewarded more frequently from weekend-round events, in the Prize Corner or via trade from other players.
Reviving the Fossils
When turned into the research laboratory on Cinnabar Island, they may be revived into various Pokémon, depending on the fossil mold. They are outlined as followed:
