=General Information=
The Ruins of Alph are located in Johto. They are to the South-west of [[Violet City]]. If you began in Johto, the first entrance to the insides of the Ruins of Alph contain some over-powered NPC's for that early in the game, however if you happen to defeat them, you will gain massive experience. The catchable tall grass Pokemon in this area can only be reached by using the [[Items#Surfboard|surfboard]] through one of the entrances from [[Union Cave]].

=General Information=
Cherrygrove city is a city located in south-east Johto. It is the first city in Johto where players who began here, will be able to see their first [[Pokemart]] and [[Pokemon center]]. Upon entering, players will be challenged by an old man NPC, which will only fight them if they have 2 REP. This is also the first map where players have the option to fish for Pokemon if they have an [[#oldrod:items|Old Rod]].

One of the 5 transportation points, centered on the train system, is stationed in Cherrygrove City. The train runs between 5 designated locations in: [[Goldenrod City]], [[Saffron City]], [[Viridian City]], and [[Silver Town]]. At least the Zephyr badge is required to board the train, in addition to a [[Items#Transportation_Tickets.2FTrain_Pass|Transportation Ticket]] or a validly active [[Items#Transportation_Tickets.2FTrain_Pass|Train Pass]]; these are sold by ticket sellers, found in any train station.
